If you can't get over to England to watch the grand dame of the Grand Slams, you can instead visit New York City and catch in on outdoor TV screens at the North Plaza of Rockefeller Center. Officials have set up live broadcasts of Wimbledon matches from seven in the morning to five at night, daily. You'll get a chance to see tennis the way it used to be played, with carts selling traditional strawberries and cream.
"HSBC presents Wimbledon 2009 at Rockefeller Center" is a week of free events starting Monday, June 22. Play singles tennis on Manhattan's only grass court. (Be sure to wear your whites and call 212/525-4331 in advance to reserve court time*. PHONE NUMBER UPDATED ON 6/18.)
As a promotion, you can also play the new video game Wii Grand Slam Tennis. Details at www.us.hsbc.com/tennis.
