How U.S. Theme Parks Are Gearing Up For Halloween

It's never too early to start planning for Halloween, and some theme parks start the festivities in mid-September. We've got the scoop on Halloween events at Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, and Six Flags theme parks.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS' HALLOWEEN HORROR NIGHTS

In addition to annually updated shows like Bill & Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure, this year the Hollywood park will open Dead Inside, a new maze featuring the zombie hit t.v. show, The Walking Dead—Orlando's park will have a Walking Dead attraction as well. Other haunted houses include 3D video appearances by magicians Penn & Teller, a haunted house based on the twisted mind of rocker Alice Cooper, and various scare zones full of clowns, witches, and other scary scenes.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Dates: Sept. 21, 22, 28, 29, Oct. 5-7, 12-14, 18-21, 25-28, and 31st. Gates open at 7 p.m.

Prices: General admission prices start at $46 per person plus tax when purchased online—they're $66 per person plus tax at the gate. Universal Studios Orlando

Dates: Sept. 21, 22, 27-30, Oct. 4-7, 11-14, 17-21, 24-28, and 31st. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Prices: Tickets start at $88.99 per person plus tax for one night. If you plan on visiting more than once, a number of options are available on the ticketing website.

BUSCH GARDENS' HOWL–O–SCREAM

This year's haunted houses vary from the usual favorites like Nightshade Toy Factory: Mutation and Zombie Mortuary at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Catacombs and Fear Fair at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. There will also be new terrors like Circus of Superstition in Tampa and The Root of All Evil in Williamsburg.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Dates: Sept. 21, 22, 27-29, Oct. 4-6, Oct. 11-13, Oct. 18-20, Oct. 25-27. Gates open at 7:30 p.m.

Prices: Tickets at the gate start at $79.99 per person plus tax. To save money, order online, where prices start at $34.99 per person for Sept. 21 and 22, and from $54.99 per person for dates Sept. 27 thru Oct. 27. Click here to view additional ticket options.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Dates: Sept. 14-16, 21-23, 28-30, Oct. 5-7, 12-14, 19-21, 26-28.

Prices: Busch Gardens Williamsburg offers the Fall Fun Card, allowing you to pay for one day's admission and come back anytime thru Oct. 28th. The card costs $69.99 per person plus tax (the same as a regular single–day park ticket, and gives you unlimited admission during the day and at night for Howl–O–Scream.

Seaworld San Antonio

Dates: Weekends Sept. 28 thru Oct. 28 starting at 6 p.m.

Prices: From $79.99 per person plus tax, and includes admission to the park during the day.

SIX FLAGS' FRIGHTFEST

Halloween events takes place at various Six Flags theme parks around the country. Events, dates, and prices vary by theme park so check the Six Flags park's website for more details.
