Yes, it's that time of year again when we make the annual pilgrimage to visit the in-laws. Mine happen to live in Savannah, which makes using up what precious vacation time I have left at the end of the year a little easier. The Southern city is gorgeous, and the travel editor in me can't help but ask my husband each and every time: "Can we stay in one of those great B&Bs; in the historic district at least for one night this time?" The answer is always the same: No.
We just returned from such a trip (it was a nice visit, depending on which one of us you ask) and I had to laugh when I found the following e-mail in my in-box back at work: Hotel Indigo Offers Respite With "Escape The In-Laws" Package. The chain has some cool boutique hotels that also happen to be affordable (hotelindigo.com), so I thought I'd pass along the info to anyone in need of a little getaway from the family—while staying with the family. Of course, that's not to say you'll need it…
Indigo is a chain owned by InterContinental. Guests find a core list of menu items at hotel restaurants, but there are also be surprises like in-room murals, and decor and music that change throughout the year. For instance, see our review of Chicago's Hotel Indigo.
