This month, MasterCard debuts its traveler's check card, which is similar to products already sold by American Express and Visa. They're essentially debit cards with extra protection: If they are lost or stolen, you'll get a replacement or wired cash within 24 hours. Unfortunately, the fees are ridiculous--as much as $15 per card, $2.50 for ATM withdrawals, and even $15 to close your account.
