Low-cost carrier JetBlue is celebrating its new service between New York City and Cancun, Mexico, with a discounted introductory rate starting at $118 per person round-trip. (Regular round trip fares will range from $258 to $698.)

The nonstop flights depart New York City daily at 8:15 A.M. and arrive in Cancun at 11:25 A.M. On the return, flights depart Cancun at 12:25 P.M. and arrive in New York City at 5:10 P.M.

Frequent JetBlue fliers will notice one drawback: the airline's typical DirectTV service is not available on these flights or any others outside the continental U.S. However, there will be complimentary FOX InFlight Premium Entertainment.

What Makes This a Deal? In comparison, the lowest round-trip, nonstop flight we've found between New York City and Cancun in mid-December is $356 per person (American Airlines)--about $240 more than JetBlue's discounted fare.
