A Capitol Getaway

Hotel packages for Shakespeare in Washington, a six-month celebration of the Bard.
Thursday, December 21, 2006 |

Michael M. Kaiser, president of the Kennedy Center, and Michael Kahn, artistic director of the Shakespeare Theatre Company, are the masterminds behind this celebration of the playwright's far-reaching, 400-year influence. They've lined up more than 100 events and exhibitions. A performance of Twelfth Night on Twelfth Night (Jan. 6), the Kirov Opera's production of Falstaff, and a display of original costumes at the National Archives are just a few of the highlights.

Local hotels are offering discounted stays--starting at $129 per room per night with free parking at the Courtyard Marriott Capitol Hill--and some have gotten into the act with Shakespeare-themed packages. To book a stay and browse the complete events calendar, visit shakespeareinwashington.org.
