"I was in Jamaica last year researching a new novel, which, like Fruit of the Lemon, is partly set on the island. While there, I was invited to read at the Calabash International Literary Festival, which takes place at Treasure Beach every May. For a magical few days, writers from North America, Europe, and the wider Caribbean read and discuss their work in front of more than 1,500 people. There's food, music, and conversation into the night--and all this against the most beautiful backdrop of the beach and blue sea beyond."
