The package includes round-trip airfare to London on a major carrier and a four-night stay at the 100-room Holiday Villa Hotel in Leinster Gardens on the northwestern side of the city (about three miles from downtown). Add extra nights for $44 per person per night. Seventeen hotel upgrades are available, such as the Sheraton Park Lane at an additional $500 per person. The arrival airport is usually Heathrow but is occasionally Gatwick. Transfers from the airport add about $35 a person.

Winter shortens the daylight in London and limits enjoyment of outdoor activities. Now is the time to explore the city's nightlife and shopping. We suggest you catch a live show in London's renowned theater district. You'll find discounted, same-day tickets if you visit the official site of the city's theaters, London Theatre Guide. Shoppers should note that they may obtain a refund of the VAT (Value Added Tax) that is included in the price of every item (14.89 percent of the purchase price) in the United Kingdom. Refunds are offered only if your purchases reach a certain minimum amount set by each store. Global Refund will set the refund process in motion for you for a fee of about $16.

Before you go, check the weather forecast, exchange rate and local time at BudgetTravelOnline.com.

What Makes This a Deal? In comparison, the lowest round-trip fare we've found from New York to London in early February is $488 per person (American Airlines). For about $320 more, Go-Today.com covers the airfare as well as the four-night stay. Winter vacations typically cost less than peak summer travel. The savings help compensate for the dollar's weak buying power against the British pound.
