Why It's a Deal: The lowest round-trip, multicity fare we've found (NYC-Dubrovnik and Zagreb-NYC) in late April is $1,197 on Austrian Airlines. For about $800 more, FIT Tours covers the international airfare and virtually everything else--the eight-night stay, the transportation within Croatia and Slovenia, many meals, sightseeing tours, entry fees, transfers, and most of the taxes and fees.

Trip Details: The escorted tour includes round-trip airfare on Croatia Airlines (arriving in Dubrovnik and departing from Zagreb) and eight nights' accommodations. The trip begins with a two-night stay at the Argosy Hotel in fortified, cosmopolitan Dubrovnik, nicknamed the Pearl of the Adriatic. The Bell Tower Clock, Sponza Palace, and a Dominican monastery are among highlights of a half-day city walking tour.

You'll then travel up the coast to Split for a tour of the historic center, including the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, and a one-night stay at the Hotel Marjan. The following morning you'll make a quick stop at the artsy town of Trogir on the way to breathtaking Plitvice Lakes National Park. You'll spend a night at The Hotel Jezero, located inside the park.

Then you'll travel along the coast again and enter Slovenia, where you'll visit the seaside resort town of Opatija and the town of Postojna, famous for its huge caves. In the evening, you'll arrive in Bled for a two-night stay at either the Park Hotel or the Golf Hotel. There is a sightseeing tour, which includes cliffside Bled Castle. Afterwards, you'll continue on to Ljubljana, where there's a morning walking tour featuring sights such as the open-air market, the Three Bridges, and the baroque Town Hall. In the afternoon, you'll head back to Croatia to spend the final two nights in the capital, Zagreb, at the Sheraton Hotel.

You can extend your stay in Dubrovnik from $69 per person per night and in Zagreb from $89 per person per night.
