Trip Details: The Montreal Jazz Fest returns for its 28th year with a lineup of 350 free outdoor shows and 150 ticketed shows, with prices ranging from $16.50 to $149.50. Five hotels are offering discounted nightly rates during the festival. The Quality Hotel Downtown, near shop-lined Ste-Catherine Street and the Museum of Fine Arts, starts at $119 ($135 Canadian) per night. The 242-room Travelodge Montreal Centre starts at $123 ($139 Canadian). The boutique property Hotel XXIX Siecle in Old Montreal is $163 ($185 Canadian). And the stylish Hotel Hyatt Regency Montreal starts at $167 ($189 Canadian) for Mon. to Wed. stays and is $228 ($257 Canadian) for Thurs. to Sun.

The Festival Kit, which costs $36 per person ($40 Canadian), includes an official T-shirt, priority access to purchasing tickets for indoor concerts, a ticket for one of the Jazz d'ici concerts highlighting local musicians, a $20 gift certificate redeemable at the Casino de Montreal, 25 percent off adult admission to the Musee d'art contemporain de Montreal; and a "Friends of the Festival" card that grants privileged access to the Jam Sessions in the Hyatt Regency Hotel and a compilation CD. (The kit is valued at more than $141 for a three-night stay.)
