Mid-Coast, from $144 per person per night
The Maine Windjammer Association is celebrating dads with a four-day Father's Day cruise starting from $575 per person. Dad pays half price—$288—when accompanied by a child who pays the full fare. Also covered are all meals, including a lobster dinner, and nonalcoholic beverages. This cruise doesn't have a set itinerary. The vessel will weave among islands and bays for about six hours a day. Guests can help sail, watch for wildlife, or sunbathe. The boat will drop anchor at the end of the day, in time for a trip to shore. All meals are served aboard the ship. The captain tries to vary the anchorages—one night might be a deserted island, the next a fishing village like Stonington or a historic town like Castine. Evenings are spent on deck stargazing or socializing. The average cost for a sailing in June with all meals, activities, and accommodations is $144 per day, which is about 10 percent cheaper than during the high-season months of July and August.
