With only two rooms, 40 Winks may be, as owner David Carter claims, the world's smallest boutique hotel, but it's also one of the most imaginative. The double feels like your crazy aunt's hobby room, with its stripped floorboards and 19th-century mannequin, while the single is decked out in pink satin and gold. In the salon, Carter stages a regular event known as Bedtime Stories, where up to 40 visitors listen to fantasy tales while dressed in pj's.
