About this Hotel
Price From $50
'Hood In the heart of the historic district, opposite one of Granada's most famous sites, the 16th-century Convento de San Francisco. It's a short walk from the hotel to the main shopping street (Calle Atravesada) and Parque Central.
The Vibe Terry Leary and Nancy Bergman, sisters who both volunteered with the Peace Corps, now welcome guests into their homey hotel. The entrance area leads out to a lush courtyard bursting with pink bougainvillea, where the bilingual staff sets up breakfast and dinner daily—under the watch of the chatty resident parrots. Come sunset, admire the views of Granada's colonial-era buildings and distant volcanoes from the rooftop terrace.
Rooms The sisters outfitted the 13 rooms with decorative masks, Turkish lamps, and other eclectic souvenirs from their far-flung travels. Rooms 1 and 4 have balconies overlooking the garden; Room 1 also has the appeal of a Moroccan-inspired blue-and-white-tiled bathroom. The nine rooms in the main house are spread across two floors, while the four larger rooms in the adjacent annex have access to a decent-size pool.
Plus Two choices at breakfast time: Nicaraguan-style breakfast with rice and beans, plantains, and local cheese, or the American options of whole-grain French toast and pancakes.
Minus The pool at the main house is significantly smaller than the one in the annex, which only annex guests may access.
Free Wi-Fi? Yes, plus free computer stations.
Credit Cards Accepted AmEx, Discover, MC, Visa.
Details Doubles from $50 in the main house, annex rooms from $55, Room 1 from $75. Rates include breakfast.
