'Hood Euston Square, an area dominated by office buildings. It's about a 10-minute walk from the hotel to Regent's Park and 20 minutes to the British Museum. There's not much else of interest to visitors in the immediate vicinity, but there are plenty of transportation links.
The Vibe This is a budget hotel with a boutique look—it has a voguish minimalism introduced as part of renovations in 2009. The lobby doubles as a lounge space; plum and walnut veneer sofas are gathered around a large coffee table. The adjacent bar broadcasts international sporting events and serves reasonably priced cocktails.
Rooms: Queen-size beds with white linens, wooded desks, and carpets outfit the 75 spartan rooms. Mirrors on bedroom walls increase the sense of space and light, but there's no denying that the quarters are cramped. The thick-paned windows don't seem to block out all the noise outside; ask for one on the fourth floor, farthest from the street.
Plus Easy access to London's center from the Euston Square tube station (literally next door) and to other European destinations from St. Pancras station.
Minus A paucity of restaurants, pubs, and bars nearby.
