About this Hotel
Price From $79
'Hood Lower Nob Hill, tucked between the affluent Nob Hill and the seedy Tenderloin districts. The hotel is centrally located: it's six blocks from Union Square, one block from Polk Street, and five blocks from Grace Cathedral.
The Vibe An eclectic, worldly theme: Z Gallerie–type wood armoires and Buddha busts in the lobby, American Himalayan Foundation art in the rooms, and guests' travel photos in the elevator.
Rooms Sandy desert blues, yellows, and reds decorate the 161 spacious, inviting rooms. Guests staying on the top two floors pay the deluxe price (an extra $20) for views of the surrounding neighborhoods and for small, thoughtful upgrades like organic coffee and bigger bath towels.
Plus The hotel won a LEED Gold certification for improvements like solar panels on the roof, carpeting made with 30 percent post-consumer recycled materials, and the use of all-natural cleaning products.
Minus The area just south of the hotel can be unpleasant. Consult the hotel staff for the best routes to tourist destinations.
Free Wi-Fi? Yes.
Credit Cards Accepted AmEx, Discover, Diner's Club, MC, Japan Credit Bureau, Visa.
