'Hood One of many hotels in an area that's a 10-minute drive from Walt Disney World (complimentary shuttle service provided). Crossroads shopping center, complete with mini-golf, is even closer to the Hyatt.

The Vibe The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress may be near some of the planet's biggest theme parks, but it feels like a main attraction in its own right: The hotel’s 1,500 acres are dotted with palm trees, a lagoon-style swimming pool with 12 waterfalls and 2 slides, and a 21-acre lake where guests can go sailing. Golfers can use the 9-hole putt-putt course on-site or test their mettle at the 45-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus at the adjoining Grand Cypress Golf Club. Inside, the hotel lobby is dominated by an 18-story atrium, rock gardens, a baby-grand piano, and a green-winged macaw named Merlot.

Rooms After a recent $45 million renovation, the 815 guestrooms and suites became green in both style and function. Cornflower-blue brushed-suede coverlets and pale green throw pillows grace the beds, while wood and bamboo panels and textured watercolor paintings line the walls. Ecofriendly fans and LED lights are standard throughout, and the roomy, modern bathrooms feature sliding-door entryways and water-saving rain showers.

Plus In addition to 12 tennis courts, an outdoor rock-climbing wall, and an arcade room, the hotel has 10 restaurants, including a sushi bar and a dining room devoted exclusively to Sunday brunch. The staff is uncommonly friendly. 

Minus Guests are charged a mandatory “resort fee” of $22 per room per day, no matter how many of the amenities they utilize—or don’t.
