About this Hotel
Price From $60
'Hood The historic center, on a quiet cul-de-sac where Nicaraguan families live and go about their daily business. It's just two blocks from the hotel to Calle La Calzada, a pedestrian-only area packed with restaurants, bars, and shops.
The Vibe Whether you're greeted by owners Tim and Andrés or their cocker spaniel, Emmett, you'll be made to feel very welcome from the moment you arrive at La Islita. The homey atmosphere is in the pastel building's very DNA; it was restored with reclaimed wood, roof tiles, and doors from local haciendas (estates).
Rooms The owners put a lot of time and good taste into decorating the airy blue-and-white rooms, and each one has its own appeal. Suite 5 looks out at the humongous mango tree in the courtyard, while suites 4 and 6 have private wrought-iron balconies. All eight are outfitted with colonial tiles, cane ceilings, and air-conditioning (a must when Granada's daytime temperatures soar in April and May).
Plus Served in the courtyard, breakfast changes daily and features freshly squeezed seasonal juices and the best cup of organic coffee in town.
Minus No pool to escape the sweltering Nicaraguan heat.
Free Wi-Fi? Yes.
Credit Cards Accepted AmEx, Discover, MC, Visa.
Details Doubles from $60, including breakfast.
