The Gist Spread across two historic buildings, Le Richelieu's rooms feel cozy, even if the decor (floral bedspreads, brass ceiling fans) is a little outdated. Many have balconies that overlook either Chartres Street or a quiet inner courtyard that has a saltwater swimming pool. Online reviewers give props to the clean, quiet rooms and the helpful staff—most of the locally owned hotel's 65 employees have worked there for at least a decade. There's even some celebrity pedigree: Paul McCartney's family stayed at the hotel for two months in 1974 while he recorded an album in town.
