'Hood The historic Garden District is known for its antebellum architecture and its proximity to Bourbon Street. The St. Charles Streetcar Line is just steps from the hotel and is an affordable and convenient way to tour the French Quarter (a single ride costs only $1.25). The hotel is also only seven blocks from the Superdome and just a mile and a half from the Riverwalk.

The Vibe The exterior, with its colonnaded balcony and palm-framed patio, may be modest, but the interior is the epitome of Southern elegance with its large, welcoming lobby, sweeping staircase, crystal chandeliers, and friezes depicting the culture of the South (and painted by Louisiana native Robert Dafford).

Rooms Each of the 115 guest rooms and 15 suites has a unique design, though guests can count on free Wi-Fi, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, and large windows overlooking either the courtyard or the pool. The decor is graceful, symmetrical, and grand—filled with details like gold-leaf-framed landscape portraits, high ceilings, mahogany, antique-style furniture, and wrought iron bed frames. Some rooms even have decorative fireplaces.

Plus The location—central to the French Quarter and attractions like the Superdome—is the key selling point here. The fact that breakfast is included in the rate is just a bonus.

Minus The most affordable rooms are indeed wallet-friendly, but they are also quite small.
