About this Hotel
Price From $128
'Hood Tridente, a ritzy neighborhood anchored by the grand, oval-shaped Piazza del Popolo, at the edge of the Villa Borghese and the north end of the famous shopping drag, via del Corso.
The Vibe This slender 19th-century town house on a side street takes a nonchalant, make-yourself-at-home attitude. Guests heading out at night are given keys to the front door.
Rooms Okapi's smart, simple approach makes the most of limited room size and the occasional quirks of a historic building. The 20 rooms stick to dark-wood furnishings, terra-cotta floors, and white walls with mirrors and mounted TVs. Four rooms have balconies; those in Rooms 41 and 42 are nicest.
Plus Peace and quiet without sacrificing location. Start walking south, and you'll hit one photo op after another (the Ara Pacis Museum, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain…).
Minus The young staff are agreeable, but with only one person on hand at any time, phone calls to the desk can go unanswered. There are no public spaces—the entry barely fits a check-in counter and a love seat.
