'Hood Copacabana, a happening neighborhood famous for its beach. The hotel is between two major thoroughfares, across from a subway station, and three blocks from the crashing waves.

The Vibe A glass-and-steel high-rise whose marble-filled lobby and lounge area gives the hotel a touch of class. A mix of tourists and business travelers unwinds at the rooftop pool, with views of Corcovado and its iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

Rooms The 110 contemporary rooms are outfitted with cool subdued colors and blond-wood headboards. Modern bathroom fixtures powerfully pump out water, while triple-glazed windows keep street noise to a minimum.

Plus There's a garden off the lobby bar, and the Praça Edmundo Bittencourt, a small recreational park with a children's playground, is a few blocks away.

Minus Service is a mixed bag. Some employees are friendly and make an extra effort, while others are apathetic.
