About this Hotel
Price From $140
The best introduction to Berlin's art scene may be the new 40-room Soho House Berlin in the trendy Mitte district. Guests enter the eight-story, late-Bauhaus structure through a concrete lobby, spray-painted by Damien Hirst with a massive shark and furnished with weathered leather armchairs. Upstairs, the rooms fuse industrial design with touches from another era, like black rotary phones and vintage record players. Small "attic rooms" have red, wooden, king-size beds and steel cabinets. The parquet-floored larger units feature Dorothy Draper–inspired floral upholstery and plush, scalloped headboards. On the roof, a heated pool tiled with emerald-green volcanic stone provides views of Communist-era prefab concrete buildings—reminders of Berlin's not-too-distant past.
