'Hood One block from restaurant- and shop-filled Union Square, the first stop for many tourists. The cable car pickup at Powell and Post streets is nearby, as is the Curran Theatre, the city's official Broadway theater.
The Vibe Italian touches grace this 15-story hotel: There's an ornate stained glass-ceiling above the valet entrance and an elegant marble-floored lobby with potted palms. The Mediterranean vibe really comes alive in the on-site restaurant, Zingari, notable for its extensive Italian wine list and an adjoining bar with live jazz. The fitness center has state-of-the-art equipment and a brand-new hot tub.
Rooms The 10-foot ceilings and huge windows make the Donatello's 400-square-foot rooms feel unusually spacious and airy for bustling Union Square. Rooms are equipped with mini fridges, microwaves, wet bars, and dishware. The queen-size pullout couches are great for families and groups (up to four guests can stay in rooms at no extra charge). Fifth-floor rooms have semiprivate balconies.
Plus Coffee and tea are served all day in the top-floor lounge adjacent to the rooftop terrace.
