"While in Florence, I stayed at The Hotel Balestri, just two blocks from The Uffizzi Gallery. The hotel had a small balcony affording a pleasant view. One morning while I was waiting for my friends to get ready, I went up to the deck. The light cast a lovely glow over the nearby church towers during the quiet hush of morning."
"San Gimignano, Italy. Two of several towers that still stand in this lovely town in the Tuscany region of Italy."
"Along the western coast of Sardinia, Bosa was once a busy town with a healthy local economy centered on leather production. It is now a sleepy fishing village with brightly-colorored crumbling buildings and cracked cobblestone streets. Here, a much loved and worn scooter rests along a narrow corridor between homes, painted over in colors that echo the town."
"Santa Maria della Salute with one of my beloved rose-colored glass lampposts, just after sunset."
"We took the ferry from Salerno to Amalfi and the views were spectacular! This is the town of Amalfi viewed from the water."
"Vesuvius seen by way of narrow street of Pompeii. Where could anyone run to get away? Really brings home the feeling of no escape when you stand there."
"While vacationing in Venice, my wife and I spent several days walking the back canals and alleyways to see the 'real Venice.' We happened across this gondolier taking a break on a bridge and it seemed to be the perfect picture."

"This natural arch is at the end of the Isle of Capri, Italy. It's a relaxing and beautiful viewpoint far from the crowds of the towns, and well worth the walk."
"This was like stepping back in time, with all of the meats and cheeses hanging everywhere, pastas and wines as well. Every nook and cranny was filled with wonderful delights!"
"This picture was taken of the 'Calura' area just outside of Cefalù in Sept 2008. It is the ruins of a medieval tower used to send messages along the Sicilian Coast. Cefalù is lovely coastal town approx. 75 km east of Palermo."
"This is the quaint daily market in Campo di Fiori in the center of Rome. More than a decade ago I spent some time studying abroad and stayed in small apartment not far from this market. I have wonderful memories of visiting Campo di Fiori almost every morning to pick out fresh breads, cheeses, and get flowers for my room. It's always a treat to go back and visit!"
"Twelve days in Italy visiting the Chianti region, Florence, Lucca, Venice, and Montecatini. Early June was the best time for low crowds, easy access to the museums and 75 degree weather."
"This is one of my favorite places to visit late at night in Rome. I caved and paid five euro for a little dingy tripod that a street vendor had tirelesslybeen trying to sell me. I increased the ISO on my Canon Rebel to 400 and set the f-stop to 3.5 and a full one-secondshutter speed. This was the result. Needless to say, I am thrilled I bought that little tripod! I still use it on many occasions!"
