The location of the Hotel Chalet del Brenta alone would be enough to sell most people on this 9-month-old boutique hotel in northern Italy: It's just 900 feet from some of the country's choicest ski slopes, in the winter resort town of Madonna di Campiglio. Which makes all the rest of the hotel's assets pretty much icing—from the exposed pine beams and upholstered leather headboards in the 56 guest rooms, most of which have mountain-view balconies, to the wholly reasonable rates starting at just above $100 a night. The hotel's spa holds its own as well, clocking in at more than 5,000 square feet, with a heated pool, a Turkish bath, two saunas, and a salt-therapy chamber. Then there's our favorite perk: Guests can roam the restaurant's open wine cellar before dinner, tasting some 100 labels with the on-site sommelier before heading to a table with their bottles of choice.
