Price From $140
This four-story town house six blocks northeast of Piccadilly Circus has long been an elite address: In the first half of the 20th century, the exclusive Gargoyle Club hosted big names here, such as Henri Matisse and Fred Astaire. Now its 39 rooms, unveiled in November by private-club specialists Soho House Group, are accessible to all.
The spaces start small (the Broom Cupboard is 160 square feet) but are meticulously decorated with hand-painted wallpaper and silver tea sets stocked with homemade shortbread cookies. The inn's Dean Street Dining Room, which serves refined comfort foods like Devonshire duck breast with caramelized quince, is an inviting communal space for all guests. (Breakfast is an additional cost.)
