About this Hotel

Price From $121

'Hood On the quieter, southern side of Trastevere, a picturesque warren of medieval streets with restaurants and bars. The B&B is two blocks from the Tiber River and near an island (Isola Tiberina) that hosts popular summer events.

The Vibe Like coming home after a night out. The delightful owner, former ad exec Lorenza Sardo, keeps the fridge stocked with yogurt, juice, and homemade limoncello. Guests can settle into a worn armchair by shelves of guidebooks and make free use of the phone (for local calls) and the computer.

Rooms Six modern, spare rooms (all on the ground floor) have blond-wood floors, mirrored armoires, and white linens, some livened up with batik pillowcases. Bathrooms are outfitted with stylish vessel sinks.

Plus The appeal of an apartment rental, plus the comforts of daily housekeeping and the personal attention that comes with being one of a handful of guests under Sardo's watch.

Minus The B&B is up a narrow, steep alley on a cobblestoned backstreet that's charming but can be tough to access by car. You may need to haul luggage by hand.

Credit Cards Accepted None; cash only.

Details Doubles from $121 (€85), includes vouchers for breakfast at Bar Comparone, around the corner in Piazza in Piscinula.
