The Real Deal Three nights in a two-person tent at the REI Adventures Eagle Lakes campsite; three breakfasts, three lunches, two dinners, and snacks daily; hiking trips to the Fordyce Creek basin and along the Yuba River to a gorge on Lake Spaulding; services of professional guides; transportation from campsite and trailheads by van; campsite and permit fees; from $480 per person—including all taxes and fees.

The Fine Print The starting rate is for REI members. Non-member rates start from $525. Deduct $100 for children ages 15 and under. Based on double occupancy; single supplement is not available for this trip. Lifetime REI membership is $20 per person. Transfers from the airport to the campsite are not available. Renting a car will cost you about $25 a day. Read these guidelines before you book any Real Deal.

Why It’s a Deal The cost of this trip breaks down to about $160 a night and it includes most meals, three nights camping, guided hikes, transportation from the campsite to trailheads, and all taxes and fees.  

Optional activities not available outside the scheduled itinerary. While extra camping nights cannot be added, pre- or post-trip nights at the Seven Seas Inn at Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe start from $49 a night.
