A major neighborhood makeover and boardwalk renovation turned this former no-go port area into a hub of cafes, bars, and boutiques. The 20-room See the Sea, opened in 2009, is a laid-back hideaway in the heart of the action. Managers Liat Novak and Shahar Gal drew their design ideas from the all-white hotels they admired on the travels through Mexico and outfitted their rooms with whitewashed floors, blond wood desks, and only the occasional brocade accessory for color. A downstairs disco and planned rooftop lounge mean a social scene is never far away-and that you'll probably need earplugs if you aren't a party animal.
