Why It's a Deal According to a recent Kayak search, airfare from Los Angeles to Shanghai, with a return flight from Beijing, starts at $864 in mid-November (China Eastern Air). Add to that $167 per person for two nights at the Renaissance Shanghai Yangtze Hotel, and you'd be paying $1,031, taxes and fees included, just for international airfare and two nights' hotel accommodation. For only $564 more, this package includes the international airfare and night in Shanghai, plus the eight-night cruise, domestic airfare from Chongqing to Beijing, airport transfers, and 25 meals.
More Affordable Asia offers a number of optional excursions. For an additional $120 per person, guests can purchase the Victoria Cruises Shore Excursion Package, which includes tours to the Nanjing City Wall and bazaar, storied Mt. Huangshan, the Guqin Terrace in Wuhan, the Three Gorges Dam and Lesser Three Gorges, and either Shibaozhai, Fengdu or Wanxian. For an additional $60, guests can add a full-day tour to Suzhou, the "Venice of the Orient."
