Why It's a Deal According to a recent search on Kayak, the lowest multicity fare (San Francisco to Beijing, Beijing to Shanghai, Shanghai to San Francisco) for early January is $969, with taxes (Air China). Add $565 per person for four nights at the Huabin International Hotel in Beijing and $124 per person for two nights at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai, and your total for airfare, accommodations, and hotel taxes is $1,658 when booked separately. For $782 less, China Spree's A Tale of China's Two Great Cities package covers multicity airfare, six nights' hotel, breakfast, round-trip airport-hotel transfers, and all taxes and fees.
More Optional activities include a sightseeing tour of Beijing's imperial treasures ($50 per person, including lunch), an excursion to the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs ($70 per person, including lunch and Peking duck dinner), and guided sightseeing in Shanghai ($70 per person, including lunch, dinner, and an acrobatic show). Additional nights are not available as travelers would lose the reduced group airfare.
