British Airways launching fall fire sale worldwide
Starting on Thursday (Aug. 25), savvy travelers will be keeping an eye on ticket prices for international flights because it's rumored that British Airways will be soon launching a huge flight sale.
UPDATE Noon Eastern
British Airways has launched economy roundtrip airfares starting at $552 between New York City (JFK or Newark) and London—with comparable fares for sale across US major airports to European destinations such as London, Rome, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Prague, and Amsterdam. The sale also includes two free hotel nights at select three and four star hotels, bookable only on www.ba.com/sale through Monday Midnight (EDT), Sep. 5, 2011. Tickets are valid for flights between Oct. 29, 2011 to Dec. 14, 2011 and Dec. 24, 2011 to Mar. 26, 2012.
So, now's a good time to start tracking fares. BA's OneWorld alliance partner American Airlines is likely to match the low rates on code-share international flights, too.
There's also a rumor (from a well-placed source) of a new credit card offer coming soon from British Airways. The offer is expected to be similar to the 50,000-points sign-up bonus that the offered in recent winters. So keep your eyes peeled within the next few weeks.
Remember: The best way to keep track of fares for international flights isn't to shop on an individual airline's website. Comparison shopping is a must. Be sure to check out the specialist sites for overseas travel, such as Dohop, Skyscanner, and Mobissimo.
