Whenever airlines merge, the first thing travelers wonder is what's going to happen to their miles. As Southwest and AirTran chug along with their merger, they are offering their frequent flyers an added incentive to stay loyal.

If you are a member of Southwest's Rapid Rewards and book and fly between now and November 15, you can earn 12 points per dollar on Wanna Get Away Fares (instead of the usual six points) and up to 24 points per dollar for Business Select Fares (instead of the usual 12 points). AirTran's similar promotion for A+ Rewards members is for flights booked and completed from now until November 14. You'll earn an additional bonus point per one–way domestic flight and an additional two bonus points per one–way international flights. Book a business class ticket and you get and additional 1.5 points for domestic and three points for international, per one–way ticket.
