Wood County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 132,248. Its county seat is Bowling Green. The county was named for Captain Eleazer D. Wood, the engineer for General William Henry Harrison's army, who built Fort Meigs in the War of 1812.Wood County is part of the Toledo, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Its diagonal northwest border is formed by the Maumee River, which has its mouth at Maumee Bay on Lake Erie.

Perrysburg is a city and southern suburb of Toledo located in Wood County, Ohio, United States, along the south side of the Maumee River. The population was 25,041 at the 2020 census. It was founded before and is part of the Toledo Metropolitan area, a large port city located about 12 miles (19 km) further down the Maumee River. It is now the largest suburb of Toledo and the second largest city in Wood County, after the county seat of Bowling Green. It is the most rapidly growing community in Northwest Ohio.

After the 1845 completion of the Miami and Erie Canal, Toledo grew quickly; it also benefited from its position on the railway line between New York City and Chicago. The first of many glass manufacturers arrived in the 1880s, eventually earning Toledo its nickname: "The Glass City." It has since become a city with a distinctive and growing art community, auto assembly businesses, education, thriving healthcare, and well-supported local sports teams. Downtown Toledo has been subject to major revitalization efforts, allowing a bustling entertainment district.
